post winter shinyness
As it looks like we're now done with the snow and ice, I decided to go get the car from it's winter storage and bring it home. When I put it away before winter it was manky and it's been so cold of late I just haven't been able to get over to it to clean it. So I've given it a quick wash and spruce up. Aware that I had no recent pics of it taken with the camera that doesn't make it look orange I thought I'd snap a few and use it as an excuse for an update.
After three months pootling around in the Merc, the Porker feels a revalation. Tight, communicative, vocal, and bloody quick in comparison. Well I suppose most things are... I've been tooling around in it the last couple of days and it reminds me once again why I love it so much. I am really struggling to think of any other car out there at the moment that I'd swap it for.
It's a shame then that public perception of it, and Porsche in general, isn't particularly good. I had my first 'dickhead' hand gesture given to me today by a cyclist. Seeing as I gave him plenty of space and was under the speed limit, I can only guess this was directed towards me and the car I drive.
I think people need to be re-educated. Pork is no longer a 'loadsamoney' two-finger salute to the have nots. It is, and to be fair always has been, a drivers car. It's just a shame that in the 80's a bright red Turbo was a badge of honour for the banker set. Like the reputation Fiats have for rusting, which they haven't done for years and Lotus have for building unreliable cars... Ok that last one was a bad example, but you get the idea. It's time to move on people, these predjudices are ancient history.
Which brings me neatly on to the Merc, a car that doesn't offend anyone and which is currently turning pink. So it might start to shortly if I don't do something about it.
UPDATE
This doesn't really warrant it's own entry but I thought I'd post it anyhow.
Odd moment today given recent musings about Aston Martin V8 Vantages... I was out in the Pork, Bon Jovi blasting out (leave it!), TC off, had a moment of over exuberance resulting in a lovely long power slide out of a roundabout accompanied by the car howling over the music. I found my lips literally forced into a huge grin and I started giggling. All totally involuntary.
It has been a long, long time since I've enjoyed a car on the road quite like this. In fact, I can't remember anything other than a certain purple nail that's ever done it. This could be quite significant.
UPDATE II
likewise
My dad has his P4 back from having quite a bit of work done on it and we used it as an excuse to take it out and take some pics. Couldn't resist taking one of the pair of them together.
